Golf Tournament a Success!

In September, we held our 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament. As it was last year, it was a rousing success! 69 golfers enjoyed the best, sunniest weather we could have hoped for at Eagle Vale Golf Course. After golf, we gathered for a sit-down dinner followed by an introduction to St. Peter’s work from Patty and many, MANY raffle drawings. Almost everyone left with a raffle item, and we all left with gratitude for our extremely supportive community of donors and volunteers.

A special thanks to Paul and Linda Forte are in order; they (along with the rest of our fantastic development team) spent many hours putting the tournament together.

Back-to-School Backpack Program (August 2017)

Every August, the school year begins for our community members with a flurry of activity at SPK. For many years, we have put on the Backpack Program- a school supply and book-bag giveaway for kids in the community going back to school. This year, due in large part to the efforts and generosity of the , we were able to give out 126 backpacks with grade-appropriate supplies inside! Students face enough barriers to success at school without having to worry about having the basics for class, so we are grateful that through the persistent support of our funders and volunteers we were able to promote these students’ academic success.

Staff Update- Hellos and Goodbyes

Jon Mead at St Peters Kitchen in Rochester NYThis has been a year of many hellos and goodbyes, including several of our staff members. In June, we hired Jon Mead as a part-time Marketing and Development Manager, a new position that we created. Jon is a graduate of the Roberts Wesleyan College communication program, and recently moved back to Rochester. He enjoys all things outside, and bikes to work whenever possible.

Gabe Rivera St Peters Kitchen in Rochester NY

In August, our Kitchen Manager Kevin Cilano decided to pursue other career horizons, to our joy and dismay. Kevin has been a fantastic employee, and though we wish him the best in his new position as a lay minister at RIT, we are very sorry to see him go. He has graciously stayed on as we have searched for a suitable replacement. Fortunately, we found one! Gabe Rivera is a Rochester native who recently moved back after spending some time in Florida. He has excellent kitchen experience, and an upbeat and friendly disposition. We are excited to work with him; feel free to say hi or introduce yourself if you see him in the Kitchen.
