Our annual fall campaign newsletter is fresh off the presses! Every year we mail out copies to all of our faithful volunteers and donors. Please read about the new Community Garden and new staff we’ve added this year as well as other program highlights and testimonials!
Sign-ups start on November 1st for Thanksgiving and December 1st for Christmas.
Every year we are really blessed to have an abundance of folks willing to give up time on Thanksgiving and Christmas to volunteer serving our community a beautiful home-style holiday meal. To make it fair and available to those who would like to come we have set up a time frame where we take signups for volunteers.
On June 10th, in partnership with FoodLink NY, St. Peter’s installed a community garden! All materials and plants garden were generously donated to us by FoodLink as part of a grant to provide healthy food to the community. Since then, we’ve engaged several community volunteers to help water, harvest, weed and keep a vigilant watch for our resident ground hog family!
On August 7, we held a family gardening workshop with 8 kids and 3 adults attending. Local organic farming celebrity Elizabeth Henderson led the workshop by teaching about soil, edible weeds and planting. Each child got a seed packet to take home and plant.
